About the role

Reporting to the Planning & Environment Manager, the successful candidate will be accountable for coordinating environmental management for our Concrete, Aggregates and Humes businesses.

  • Providing expert advice and support to the business to ensure effective management of environmental compliance, reporting and risk matters;
  • Ensures that the environmental compliance function is managed effectively across the sites, including the implementation of effective management systems, internal and external reporting, serious incident management and training programs;
  • Implement national environmental directives and provide support to the business for the coordination, tracking and execution of sustainability initiatives in the areas of, but not restricted to, water, waste, energy, rehabilitation and biodiversity.
  • Performing environmental audits and acting as a senior Holcim environmental representative;
  • Coordinating contractors and liaising with Governmental agencies; and
  • Coordinating stakeholder consultation with the community, Indigenous groups and Governmental agencies.

More recently you have gained an interest and some exposure to Project Management and see the value in utilising the fundamentals to develop your capability and career.

  • Tertiary qualified in Environmental Science or equivalent ;
  • Solid experience in the environment, sustainability & approvals areas, preferably at both strategic and operational levels;
  • Experience working in the mining, materials, energy or utilities industry;
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant Planning & Environmental Legislation;
  • Maintain a working knowledge of GIS Software; and
  • Advanced communication and negotiation skills and well-developed relationship building and conflict resolution skills.
